Sustainability Grading

Sustainability is a major focus here at shopme. We want to help you find the cutest clothes possible- and in the meantime help the planet. Our sustainability grading system helps you to identify which brands are hot- and which ones are not. We use a website called 'good on you' to rate brands on the issues that matter. Our goal is to create a world of well-informed fashionista's and cater clothes to you, not a beauty standard.

Crowded

People

This component of the rating system looks at brands’ impact on workers across the supply chain. These include policies and practices on child labour, forced labour, worker safety, freedom of association, gender equality and payment of a living wage.

Planet

Considering the environmental implications of clothing is a must in the sustainability rating. This includes resource use and waste management, and their policies to address energy use and carbon emissions, impacts on water, microfibre pollution and chemical use and disposal.

Calves in Nature

Animals

We love animals and bet you do too! This is why we look carefully at how well a brand traces it’s animal products and its animal welfare policies, identifying the use of fur, angora, down feather, shearling, karakul and exotic animal skin and hair.

Help your planet

Shopme's planet rating system

Shopme's sustainability grading system helps you find the cutest clothes and decide how ethically you want to source them. While we encourage you to invest in second hand clothing and sustainable stores, the idea behind shopme is to give you the facts so you can be an informed consumer.

The way the system works is shopme considers each brand's ethics in relation to their treatment of people, the planet and animals. Any brands with five planets are doing everything they can in all of these areas to reduce impact and sell sustainably.
